Our JDS Traditions

At the Jewish Day School, we celebrate our Judaism and Israel in many ways throughout the year.

In 1st Grade, our students receive their first Siddur;  In 2nd grade, they are given their own Chumash.

Each year we celebrate these milestones with family.

The chagim (holidays) also become central to many of our traditions. From Rosh HaShanah through Shavuot, we celebrate in school and with family programs.

Purim means Spirit Week -- an entire week of topsy turvy fun that culminates with a school-wide Purim Carnival.

Each year at Passover, all our students, faculty, and staff participate in a model seder. We have shared this celebration with students from the JCC and Israeli school children -- via Skype -- from Sdot Yoav Lower School in our Partnership2Gether region in Israel.

Pi Day, Special Friends Day, Scripps Spelling Bee, Science Fair, and Graduation are also highlights of our calendar year.

All these wonderful experiences create lasting memories for students and their families.
