We are the Jewish Day School of the Lehigh Valley.

We embrace individuality, celebrate inclusivity and prioritize community.

We believe learning is a life-long journey embarked upon in partnership with family, school, and community. Everyone with whom a student interacts serves as a guide to help negotiate the path to success. We take pride in enfolding our children in the joy of life-long learning.

NEXT STEPS

  • All students entering the Jewish Day School of the Lehigh Valley are formally assessed.

Pre-Kindergarten applicants are screened to determine if the child is developmentally ready for our program.

Applicants in kindergarten through grade 8 are also screened to determine ability level and placement as well as appropriateness of fit between school and student.

Parents will be contacted by the Director of Admissions, Sara Schonbach, to discuss the results of the assessment and to answer any questions.

  • Student records are an important part of the admissions process. We request that families provide a copy of all official school records for the student applicant.

    Official records include:

    • Official transcripts of grades/scholastic records

    • Standardized test records

    • Immunization / Health and Dental forms

    • Personal health records

    • Attendance records

    • Discipline records

    • Psychological records and IEP (if applicable)

    • Teacher narratives or recommendations

    • Other available school records

  • When a student applicant has completed all of the above steps in the admission process, the Head of School and Director of Admissions will meet to determine the acceptance of the student. At that time, families are contacted regarding the acceptance of the student. Students not accepted will be contacted with a letter of explanation or an in-person meeting will be arranged.

The JDS is an important epicenter of community within the Lehigh Valley. We provide a rigorous secular education that helps our students become compassionate leaders of tomorrow and celebrate not only joyful Judaism but also crucial tenets including giving back to our community, tzedakah (charity), tikkun olam (repairing the world), and chesed (kindness).

Our students regularly participate in community-wide activities and service projects that benefit the wider community, as they know they are responsible for improving the world around them.

Flexible Tuition

  • $11,730

  • $13,872

  • $14,892

  • $16,065

  • $16,320

With the support of the Jewish Federation of the Lehigh Valley and our community, we are able to offer an outstanding academic experience, with the lowest student: teacher ratio in the area, at an affordable cost.

We appreciate the long-term investment and the significant sacrifices that parents make when giving their children the gift of private school education. We recognize that each family is doing everything possible to make a meaningful contribution towards tuition.

To ease the financial strain that is felt by our families, the school has implemented a Flexible Tuition Program.  This financial model takes a different approach to financial aid.  Rather than focusing on a tuition grant/scholarship, the focus is on what level of tuition my family can afford to pay. We invite all families to participate in our Flexible Tuition Program. Flexible tuition is offered according to the school resources available, on the condition that applying families make appropriate financial disclosures, and on the assumption that all families will allocate tuition as an appropriate priority in the family budget.

Families opting to participate in this program should submit financial material through FACTS to have a tuition assessment completed. To apply, please see our JDS online FACTS application. Families who do not wish to participate in this program can opt-out of the assessment and pay the standard tuition rate as listed in the enrollment contract.

If you have questions or concerns regarding the impartial and anonymous application process, please contact our Director of Admissions, Sara Schonbach, at 610-437-0721 or via email at sschonbach@jdslv.org.
